The Texas Second Court of Appeals is also located at the Tim Curry Criminal Justice Center in Tarrant County. The Second Court of Appeals has authority over appeals from criminal courts in Archer, Clay, Cooke, Denton, Hood, Jack, Montague, Parker, Tarantino, Wichita, Wise, and Young County.

The County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for protecting and serving the community. Russ Authier, elected in 2021, serves as Sheriff. The County Sheriff’s Office is committed to enforcing laws firmly yet with compassion while affording dignity and respect to every individual.

There are seven police departments in the area located throughout the ten incorporated cities, towns, and municipalities. The primary goal of each police department is to protect and serve their respective communities, and to enforce state laws. The Weatherford Police Department is the primary local police department. The department is responsible for the safety of residents in the largest community in the county.
